Here it is, Ladies and Gentlemen. This 20 mile beaut is nothing but the scenic route. Few hills and commonly following bicycle paths, it will charm seasoned riders and infrequent pedalers alike.
Meet at Kenwood Park at half past 5 0′clock. Look for other tweed-clad cyclists gathered twixt the baseball field & tennis courts at the south side of the park, on the Northern tip of Lake of the Isles. Bring a thermos of tea or other libation to share with your new friends! Now is the time to capture the memory in wonderful tones of sepia. We will depart at half past 6 o’clock SHARP.
Following the shores of the Lake, we will make our way to the quaint Linden Hills Station of the Minnesota Streetcar Museum on 42nd Street & Queen Ave. We’ll be all aboard for the festive Ghost Trolley Ride. Tickets are a mere $4, please come prepared.
After our harrowing rail experience, we’ll cast our votes for the Dapperest Gent and Most Fetching Lady contests. Nominate your chums, or a beautiful stranger, and give them three cheers as they vamp and dash about for your entertainment. New this year! A contest for Best Bicycle is sure to please, especially as the winners are awarded a bottle of whiskey each!
It’s off for a jaunt along Minnehaha Creek towards Parkway Pizza at 4457 42nd Avenue South for some fine ‘Italian’ vittles. Parkway has generously offered to donate FREE Pies to Tweed Ride Cyclists. Be sure to express your gratitude (tip well!) to Sam and the rest of the waitstaff.
Having satiated our hunger and slaked our great thirst, we shall make our way along the picaresque Minnehaha Avenue towards everybody’s favourite polygon, the Hex Bar on 2600 27th Avenue South.
Rolling past the ‘historic’ Sabo Bridge, we’ll tour through the old mill district of Minneapolis and stop for a spot of tea (or something stronger) on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi.
